What to Expect

85 Minute Initial Assessment

Much of our first visit is spent getting to know you—your health history, eating habits, and current nutrition concerns. We’ll talk through your goals and work together to develop a plan that feels realistic and supportive. Depending on your needs and available time, we may cover meal planning ideas, nutrition education, food or supplement recommendations, and other strategies. We’ll finish by discussing next steps and follow-up care.

55 Minute Follow Up Visits

Follow-up sessions are 55 minutes and focus on ongoing support and progress. During these visits, we’ll review how things are going, celebrate wins, and troubleshoot any challenges that have come up since our last session. We’ll adjust goals and recommendations as needed, provide continued nutrition education, and offer practical strategies that fit your lifestyle and current needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, we are in-network with most major insurance companies and most of our clients pay $0 out of pocket. We are currently in-network with Premera, Lifewise, Aetna, Regence, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, these may apply to nutrition services. I’m happy to provide a Superbill for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.

  • The majority of our patients using health insurance do not need a referral for nutrition counseling. We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to find out if your insurance plan requires a referral for medical nutrition therapy.

  • Our nutrition counseling sessions typically last approximately 85 minutes for initial consultations and 55 minutes for follow-up appointments. Each session is tailored to your unique needs.

  • When using insurance for pediatric nutrition visits, your child must be present for at least part of the session. This is an insurance requirement and also allows me to see and interact with your child so I can accurately assess their nutrition needs and make individualized recommendations.

We’re happy to meet with parents or caregivers separately to provide guidance on general pediatric nutrition. These consultations are self-pay and not eligible for insurance billing.
